Level Caps (must see, I need some ideas)
Ok I realize that Arenanet will probably never raise the level cap in new and upcoming expanision packs, but personally I think they should. Think about it, I doubt that anyone who has'nt beaten the original Guild Wars is gonna buy the expanision, and I know that Guild Wars is supposed to be about skill not level grinding. But think about it, obviously new and harder challenges will come with the expansions. Why should we only be able to remain at level 20, assuming that our charactors can be transfered. Would'nt it be better if you were level 30 and fighting a level 40 monster? This way people can have a goal in the expansions. For example, right now my goal is to raise my 2nd charactor to lvl 20.
With new expansions comes new professions, so people will probably create new charactors, so if they do raise the cap it will only go up 5 or 10 levels. If they do raise the cap maybe leveling past 20 could be based on completing quests, that way its not a grind. If you have any ideas about this, or wanna say somethin about grinding post it.

Nope. What's the point? What's the difference between that and being lvl 20 and fighting a lvl 30 monster? This topic has been beaten to the ground also.

To balance the future quests and missions to be challenging for as many players as possible more easily. I think future missions may walk a much thinner line where tactics and skill is more important than ever, something that's only possible if they can make certain expectations about the character abilities.
Hmm, in your example, a level 30 fighting a level 40 monster would be similar to a level 20 fighting a level 28 in the current game. Why not keep it at 20, and let players fight a level 35?
I think the goal they intend to have for the characters is to unlock new skills, item pieces, and complete more parts of the game.
One may think of level 20 characters as experts in their professions, with their training complete. However, just because they're trained doesn't mean there aren't a world of challenges awaiting them.
Also, increasing a cap to, say, 30 is just a quite short term "goal", with a goal to e.g. dominate the ladder or master end-game PvE challenges with a profession much tougher and rewarding awards to me.

argh search please! I've typed the same answer to this about 300 times!
I say no to level increase. Why? I love huge levels as much as anyone (bring on sacred, level 216!!!) hehe but what is the difference between fighting a level 24 monster at level 20 and fighting a level 34 monster and level 30? I'd rather they put in the level 34 monster and make us fight it at level 20.
At level 30 taking out a 34 monster is NO different to 20/24: you do more damage to something with more hitpoints = takes just as long to kill, no longer no shorter
Level 20 taking out a level 34 either takes longer because you do less damage and so have to survive longer (wow i lived for 2.5 minutes against uber-monster of the underworld!) OR takes the same time because you found an amazing strategy that worked well.

Who grabbed the shovel and dug this up?
I want to know so I can SHOOT THEM.
The answer is going to be the same as the previous 5000000 threads containing this topic. An overwhelming No from at least 80% of the community, and a yes from the people who are just going to quit when the next game comes out anyway.

No, I think they should have level 60 monsters in the next expansion, but keep the level cap at 20. Mwa hahahah, if you want the experience to fight harder monsters, you'll get it. Fighiting a level 60 monster at level 60 is like fighting a level 1 monster at level 1, there's no difference, but 20 vs 60... XD

Here is a thought. Let's raise the character level cap to 100. Let's keep all the monsters to level 30. Won't that be fun? J/k
let's not raise the cap. let's bring more challenging monsters and more skills.
What's difference between fighting level 100 monsters when you are level 80.
compare to, Fight level 40 monsters and level 20? it's same.
Unless, people just want to brag about their character being level 99. I know other mmorpg has power leveler. this game doesn't. let's keep it that way.
